Casual ECE Assistant

The Opportunity:
Support in the planning and implementation of children’s programs.  Support the planning and organizing children’s activities, encouraging their intellectual, physical and emotional growth.  Maintaining the children’s playroom, ensuring appropriate standards of safety, cleanliness and appropriate content.  Coordinate the daily operation of programming.  Understanding and carrying out Encompass Support Services Standards, Policies and Procedures. This position will support multiple sites – family place and Langley education center.

SALARY RANGE: Grid 6 - $18.22 - $21.22
BENEFITS: Not Applicable

ANTICIPATED START DATE: ASAP

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • To greet, interact with and develop positive relationships with participants (parents, children, caregivers)
  • To assist in the development and implement themes and activities for the  0-6 age group (including crafts, circle time and play)
  • Conduct activities with children to promote the development of physical, cognitive, emotional and social skills.
  • Facilitate and aid parents/caregivers and other senior staff in monitoring children in indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Carry out cleaning and maintenance duties as required.  
  • To be flexible with working hours
  • To maintain regular attendance and punctuality and to be appropriately dressed and well groomed.
  • To maintain confidentiality of all information pertaining to E.S.S.S. and Program Participants.
  • To attend E.S.S.S. training seminars as required
  • To take responsibility for personal and professional growth and development
  • To perform other duties as required by Program Supervisor
  • To be available for program support for other programs at E.S.S.S.
  • To perform other duties as required


Qualifications:

Education and Knowledge
  • Grade 12, plus enrolment in Early Childhood Education Certificate program or completing work experience required for licensing. 

Training and Experience
  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
