Sexual Assault Service Navigation
Who We Serve & What We Provide
ESSS’ Sexual Assault Services Navigation Program (SAS-N) provides information, support and referrals to any person who lives in the Langley communities and has experienced a sexual assault. Services are also available to non-offending family members. The objective of ESSS’ Sexual Assault Services Navigation Program is to provide culturally safe, client-centered, and trauma-informed coordination services to participants. This program offers free, confidential support to survivors of any age and any gender, including those who have experienced historical sexual assaults, regardless of whether they have reported the sexual assault to the police or other authorities. Referrals to this program can come from any source, including self-referrals. The SAS-N program also offers an Indigenous Traditional Healer to support survivors of sexual violence with Indigenous healing practices.
The Sexual Assault Services Navigation Program services include crisis response, information and support, safety planning, third party reporting, service coordination and referrals as well as community outreach and engagement. The service provider may prioritize the delivery of services based on individual participant’s needs having consideration for safety, participant vulnerability, type of crime, and the immediate response required due to the injury or injuries sustained from the sexual assault.

Meet our indigenous traditional healer, Wendy
My name is Wendy Thorne, AKA Niwin Manitowâk Mistatim Kwē, meaning “Four Spirited Horse Woman”. I am an Anishnaabe/ Cree Kwe (woman). In my home community, I am also known as Knowledge Keeper/Sharer. I share the knowledge passed to me of medicine harvesting, following the protocols of my late grandparents. |
