Welcome to Encompass Support Services Society
Encompass Support Services Society...is a grassroots, non-profit agency that provides a wide range of enriching and essential programs and support services in Langley and Aldergrove. Every day, we endeavor to help build strong, sustainable communities by offering inclusive, accessible services and activities tailored to meet the changing needs of the individuals we serve.
Activities and supports are designed to build new skills, foster healthy productive lifestyles and improve access to services within our community. Services are low barrier, all-inclusive and are free to participants. Specific programs have been adjusted to accommodate community needs and are focused on enhancing access for all participants.
Encompass Support Services Society programs are well-subscribed and supported throughout the community. Annually, we provide services to over 2500 individuals and families. With an annual operational budget of 7 million dollars, we would not be able to deliver our programs effectively without the collaboration and partnerships with other community organizations.

History of Encompass
ESS has administered community-based services to the Langley communities since 1995, formerly under the direction of two agencies – Aldergrove Neighbourhood Services Society (ANSS) and Family and Youth Services Society (FAYSS). In 2009, ANS and FAYSS partnered to develop a joint funding proposal to address the growing issue of youth homelessness. Funding was granted and lead to a deep and committed partnership between the agencies. In 2011, both agencies merged and after a thorough and thoughtful period of reflection, the organization’s new name and brand was announced in 2014, to better represent the agency’s vision and widespread geographical presence.

Our Values
INTEGRITY
Honesty, accountability, and transparency are at the heart of who we are.
We commit to transforming our organization by addressing our own biases and privileges, and holding ourselves and each other accountable for learning and unlearning. We strive to move our commitments and values into action.
INCLUSION
We commit to creating spaces and environments where every individual feels welcomed, respected, and valued.
We honour and celebrate diverse voices and worldviews, particularly those who are underrepresented, that make up our agency and the community. We continuously strive to ensure representation of equity-seeking groups including those who identify as First Nations, Inuit and Métis People, Black, and/or People of Colour, People with disabilities (including invisible and episodic disabilities), folx with neurodiversity, 2SLGBTQIA+ and/or gender and sexually diverse individuals across our programs, advisories, Board of Directors and employee groups.
COMMUNITY
Community is at the centre of what we do.
We acknowledge power imbalances, inequities, and marginalization that exist in our community, for those we serve and work alongside. We endeavour to be brave in our conversations, authentic in our connection, and fierce in our commitment to social and racial justice as we actively contribute to fostering a harmonious community. We strive to foster a sense of belonging and connectedness through building meaningful, reciprocal, and accountable relationships that guide our practices and inform our programs.
COLLABORATION
The sharing of unique perspectives, knowledge and ideas between staff, participants, community, and partners helps to inform and guide our work.
We commit to amplifying the voices of those who are underrepresented and marginalized, and we value these diverse life experiences and backgrounds. Our differences are our source of strength, creativity, and innovation, resulting in authentic relationships and sustainable services that reflect the needs of the community and those we serve.
