ESSS holds its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in September. Membership fees are $5.00 annually and allow eligible members to vote on the Society’s business at the AGM. The Board of Directors is elected by the general membership at the AGM and Executive Officers are elected by the Board of Directors at its first regular meeting following the AGM.
ESSS relies heavily on its membership for input and direction. It is important for all individuals receiving support and their families to have a voice in the organization. While the Society circulates surveys and questionnaires, it is still critical that it have a strong and diverse membership in order to ensure all perspectives are heard and considered.
Members are encouraged to communicate with ESSS regarding services whenever they feel the need to.
ESSS welcomes anyone interested in applying to become a member.
New members may join the Society at any point during the year.

Feather Fundraiser: Every Child Matters September 2021
Thank you for taking part in this small initiative to raise awareness, to commemorate the Residential School experience, to witness and honour the healing journey of the survivors and their families, and to commit to the ongoing process of reconciliation.
With support and feedback from our collaborative partner, the Lower Fraser Valley Aboriginal Society, we will be directing the proceeds of our Feather Fundraiser to the Indian Residential School Survivor Society (IRSSS). The IRSSS is a provincial organization based in Vancouver with a twenty-year history of providing services to Residential School Survivors. Thanks to the generous donations from partners, staff, and community members, we will be donating over $6,000.00! The Indian Residential School Survivors Society began in 1994 as a working committee of the First Nations Summit. Their work includes assisting Survivors with the litigation process pertaining to Residential School abuses and in more recent years expanding to include assisting the descendants of Survivors and implementing Community education measures (Indigenous & Non-Indigenous). Visit IRSSS online to learn more about their work: www.irsss.ca |
